Swedish massage therapy is the modality that comes to mind when most people think about massage. As the best-known type of bodywork performed today, one of the primary goals of the Swedish massage technique is to relax the entire body. Focusing on long gliding strokes in the direction of the heart, Swedish massage therapy goes beyond relaxation by increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.

The goal is to release compression in those areas to alleviate stress and pain throughout the body. Craniosacral therapy seeks to restore the natural position of the bones and synchronize the flow of fluids throughout the body which can decrease pain from a variety of chronic injuries such as migraine headaches, neck and back pain, temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ) and more. The therapist uses a focused, light touch, assessing and monitoring the rhythm and patterns of the body. This allows the therapist to pinpoint sources of obstruction or stress. $35 for 30 minutes-$70 for an hour-$105 for 90 minutes-$120 for 2 hours Hot Stone massage is a great way to melt away all the tension and your blues. Smooth lava and river rocks are heated and used. Some stones may be laid on the body and others are incorporated into a deep tissue massage. $40 for 30 minutes-$75 for an hour-$110 for 90 minutes-$145 for 2 hours Massage Cupping uses suction to lengthen muscle fibers, increase circulation and release areas of muscular tension. Because this process uses no pressure, it is amazingly gentle and can be used in areas where massage would not normally be possible such as herniated discs or recent ankle sprains. The movement of fluid can be specifically stimulated in areas of swelling or recent injury to increase lymphatic drainage and shorten recovery times. Cupping often gives the person an intense sense of relaxation and is great for relieving stress as well as injury. $40 for 30 minutes-$75 for an hour-$110 for 90 minutes-$145 for 2 hours Facial Cupping drains stagnant fluids from the reservoir areas, and help ease puffiness. The facial muscles benefit greatly in many ways, including reducing tension and pressure, easing expression lines, and loosening rigid muscles associated with TMJ disorder and headaches. Lines, wrinkles, and scar tissue will soften and plump from Massage Cupping, making it a great alternative to dermabrasion treatments or peels. $40 for 30 minutes-$75 for an hour Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by light touch and breathing. It is based on the idea that ki or life energy flows through us in a circuit, creating a pulse which can be stimulated or disrupted. If one's ki is disrupted or low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel anxious or depressed. If it is strong and steady, we are more able to feel happiness and make necessary changes. $35 for 30 minutes-$70 for an hour-$105 for 90 minutes-$140 for 2 hours Trigger point therapy involves releasing pressure at points that may cause a variety of sensations including throbbing, shooting pains, headaches, and painful or clicking joints. These points relate to dysfunction in the neuromuscular junction. Steady pressure, vibration, and stretching are used to relieve pressure and pain. Trigger points were first discovered and mapped by Janet G. Travell (president Kennedy’s physician) and David Simons. Trigger points have been photomicrographed and measured electrically and in 2007 a paper was presented showing images of Trigger Points using MRI. $35 for 30 minutes-$70 for an hour-$105 for 90 minutes-$140 for 2 hours |
Deep tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. Deep tissue massage is often recommended for chronic pain, athletes, and recent injuries and surgeries. Deep tissue work varies greatly. While sometimes the pressure is intense, it does not have to be and can be altered for the client’s needs. Deep tissue is applied to both the superficial and deep layers of muscles, fascia, and other structures and is meant to address a single or set of complaint areas using deliberate, focused work. Some tenderness is possible after intense work in an area but is not necessary and certain techniques can be used to decrease the likelihood of this.
$35 for 30 minutes-$70 for an hour-$105 for 90 minutes-$140 for 2 hours Myofascial release works through engaging restrictions, adhesions, and scars in the connective tissue, pressure is slow moving and increases gradually to stretch the tissue as it releases. Practitioners use knuckles, elbows, and/or stretches to mobilize and lengthen the restricted fascia and surrounding muscles. Working with connective tissue can have a lasting effect on the structure and functionality of joints and overall posture. $35 for 30 minutes-$70 for an hour-$105 for 90 minutes-$140 for 2 hours Sports Massage can help alleviate the build-up of muscle tension and fatigue that occurs during physical activity whether you’re a “weekend warrior” or training for the big game. Massage elongates and strengthens the soft tissues, reducing the likelihood and severity of possible injury while boosting performance, aiding in the removal of lactic acid and metabolic waste, and restoring range of motion. Massage is helpful in training, tapering, right before and right after events. $35 for 30 minutes-$70 for an hour-$105 for 90 minutes-$140 for 2 hours Prenatal massage is a perfect compliment to any pregnancy and works well with a multitude of birthing options. It is a healthy way to reduce stress and promote overall wellness. Massage relieves many of the normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy, such as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches and edema (or swelling). In addition, massage reduces stress on weight-bearing joints, encourages blood and lymph circulation, helps to relax nervous tension-which aids in better sleep-and can help relieve depression or anxiety caused by hormonal changes. There are also reflexology points and fascial releases which can be used to prepare the body for the physically intense nature of labor. $35 for 30 minutes-$70 for an hour-$105 for 90 minutes-$140 for 2 hours Ashiatsu is a barefoot massage technique that provides broad consistent pressure over the body. It is administered using deep gravity based compression and leverage from overhead bars attached to the ceiling to create a relaxing flow reminiscent of traditional swedish massage. The broad, steady nature of the strokes can be more accessible for those with sensory issues that make more traditional styles of massage difficult. This is also a great technique for people who consistently want more pressure in their massage. $70 for an hour-$105 for 90 minutes-$140 for 2 hours Reflexology is a system of hand and foot massage based on a system of zones and reflex areas that reflect an image of the body. Similar to energy work, reflexology uses manipulation to relieve blockages and bring balance to the systems. $35 for 30 minutes-$70 for an hour-$105 for 90 minutes-$140 for 2 hours Thai Yoga Mat Massage is a form of therapeutic touch that differs from traditional massage. You lie on a mat on the floor while being stretched and massaged with dynamic flows influenced by yoga. Thai yoga massage focuses on improving circulation of energy and the systems of balance. $70 for an hour-$105 for 90 minutes-$140 for 2 hours |
